Dua Lipa attorneys move to consolidate Levitating copyright infringement case

This year, Dua Lipa was served with two copyright infringement complaints over Levitating. Now, Lipa’s legal team are pushing to consolidate the actions. Levitating has now reached over two billion streams on Spotify.

Back in March, reggae band Artikal Sound System sued Dua Lipa and Levitating songwriters in California. The defendents claimed that they had lifted elements of their 2017 track Live Your Life without permission to create Levitating. Shortly after, another lawsuit was filed in a New York federal court later that month.

The latter case was pushed back against by Lipa’s team. The plaintiffs alleged that Levitating is substantially similar to 1979’s Wiggle and Giggle All Night. To read more about these cases, you can find them in our reading room.
