Alice Glass, Canadian singer songwriter and co-founder of Crystal Castles claims a victory in a defamation lawsuit brought by former band-member, Ethan Kath real name Claudio Palmieri.
Glass recently tweeted: “I won in court today!! the defamation lawsuit against me was dismissed ! thank you so much for the love and support throughout this ugly process” and “this is a victory for survivors of abuse and sexual misconduct in countries where abusers use the court system to further victimize and keep people silent. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED”.
The action began when Glass alleged Kath of delivering of both physical and mental abuse over a number of years and during their time as band-members and a couple. Kath, denied the allegations and consulted his lawyers about the allegations.
Kath went on to file a lawsuit for defamation against Glass accusing the former band-mate of attempting to “ruin his good name and reputation in the industry”.
Glass went on to file a motion to have Kath’s defamation claim struck out and on Friday that motion was granted by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The attorney working for Glass stated: “We are extremely pleased with the court’s decision to grant our motion to strike, which effectively dismisses the complaint in its entirety. As the prevailing party, we are entitled to attorneys’ fees and will return to court to obtain an order in that regard”.
