Coldplay and former manager file claims against each other in a multi-million pound suit

British rock band Coldplay and their former manager Dave Holmes have filed claims against one another in a multi million pound dispute.

In August 2023, Dave Holmes, who worked with Coldplay from 2005-2022 filed a claim against the band for alleged unpaid commission totaling £10 million. In his claim, Dave Holmes accused the band of failing pay commission and renew a contract in respect of the band’s upcoming 10th and 11th studio albums.

Just weeks later Coldplay filed a counter claim against Dave Holmes, refuting the allegations. In the counterclaim filed in the High Court, Coldplay alleges that Dave Holmes allowed tour costs to get out of hand, and that such costs (which are alleged to be in excess of £17.5 million) would not have been incurred if the former manager hadn’t failed to adequately control the finances with reasonable care. Coldplay are seeking £14 million in damages in their counterclaim.

The matter will proceed to Court if the parties fail to reach settlement.
