Adding to his substantial net worth, Dr. Dre has sold a sizeable chunk of his music catalogue rights to Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music group. According to reports and details emerging, Dre’s catalogue is being sold for more than $200 million, with Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group getting the winning bid.
The deals are allegedly separate, however more details are expected to be released within the next few days. The breakdown of percentages in ownership between the companies is also not clear at this time, alongside what is included in the deal.
It is unclear whether Dre’s rights in The Chronic are included in this deal. The album is considered a staple in hip hop and gangsta rap. It is also not clear if Dre has sold any publishing rights as a writer and producer.
