Drake and 21 Savage face $4 million lawsuit over counterfeit Vogue marketing stunt

Condé Nast is suing Drake and 21 Savage for $4 million for allegedly using a fake Vogue cover to promote their new album Her Loss, which was released Friday 4th November.

Condé Nast, the owner of Vogue, submitted the multimillion-dollar action to a New York federal court.

Drake and 21 Savage’s new album Her Loss dropped last Friday, with the artists working together to promote the project. The duo used clips from a fake Howard Stern interview, a Tiny Desk concert that never happened and the Vogue issue.

While NPR, the producers behind the Tiny Desk concert, have welcomed the duo to perform anytime, Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Condé Nast are not so impressed or welcoming, claiming they have been used as part of a ‘deceptive campaign.’

Additional to the magazine cover being posted on social media, the cover has also appeared on billboards around the US and in magazine stands in major cities. Eagle-eyed fans have since put the fake magazine cover on eBay, making huge profit.

Condé Nast has stated that this publicity stunt “underscores the tremendous value that a cover feature in Vogue magazine carries.” The suit highlights the confusion allegedly brought about by this PR stunt.

Since the lawsuit has been filed, Drake has removed the post from his Instagram and has not addressed this matter publicly.
