Gaga denied event licence

Lady Gaga has become the first foreign musician to be denied an event licence by Indonesian authorities.  The concert, which was scheduled to be held  in central Jakarta on June 3, would have been part of a string of dates on the singer’s “The Born This Way Ball” world tour, running from April to October.

A National Police spokesman confirmed that the decision followed recommendation from the Jakarta Police, along with hearing objections from various groups.   Gaga, whose controversial live show and raunchy outfits, have attracted strong opposition from political and religious groups including the Indonesian Ulema Council, Islam Defenders Front, and the United Development Party.

Jakarta police issued a statement describing how the “decision not to recommend that the National Police issue a permit for Gaga’s concert was a first…We haven’t done a similar thing before.”  However, according to reports, band Avenged Sevenfold have recently been forced to cancel their Jakarta tour dates after safety and security concerns.   This follows a string of others including Motley Crue, N.E.R.D and Rhianna  …Nothing new then.
