Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary are facing another class-action complaint by a Taylor Swift Fan who was unable to secure tickets to the singer’s tour using her pre-sale pass.
Michelle Sterioff has submitted a firmly worded action to a California federal court against Live Nation and Ticketmaster. For the last few months, both the company and its subsidiary has faced legal action and public scrutiny from lawmakers, customers, activists and Taylor Swift herself.
Millions of Taylor Swift fans who obtained passes to the presale were unable to obtain tickets for the artists upcoming concert, while Ticketmaster were forced to cancel the tour’s public on-sale because of insufficient remaining ticket inventory. The Justice Department also launched an antitrust investigation into Live Nation and Ticketmaster in early 2022.
Michelle Sterioff has accused Ticketmaster of intentional misrepresentation, common law fraud, multiple antitrust infractions, violating California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act and more.
She stated that Ticketmaster “intentionally and knowingly misled millions of ‘verified’ fans into believing they would be able to purchase tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale.” Saying further “Each access code allowed the purchase of up to six tickets, meaning the 1.5 million access codes could be used to purchase up to 9 million tickets. Ticketmaster intentionally provided codes and verified fans when it knew the available ticket inventory could not satisfy the demand.”
The intentional misrepresentation claim concerns Ticketmaster’s allegedly misleading “statements about the available quantity of tickets, how to get tickets, who would be able to participate in the TaylorSwiftTix Presale and the price of the tickets.”
At the time of writing this, Live Nation has not appeared to have responded to this action on social media.
