Megan Thee Stallion has scored an early victory in her fight against her management company, 1501 Entertainment. A Texas judge denied the label’s request to have her album Something for Thee Hotties to be declared not an album. Megan can now proceed to trial with her $1 million lawsuit.
In recent articles about this matter, 1501 Entertainment filed a request to argue that the album in question could not be considered an album under the rapper’s contract agreement.
In response to 1501 Entertainment, Megan says her work with 300 Entertainment means the request should be rejected for multiple reasons. Reasons include 300 Entertainment kept 1501 Entertainment apprised of developments related to Something for Thee Hotties for months prior to its release, 300 Entertainment promoted the Something for Thee Hotties as Megan Thee Stallion’s upcoming album prior to its release and 1501 Entertainment had no objection to this until two months after the release.
Megan Thee Stallion filed a lawsuit against 1501 Entertainment in February 2022. The label then countersued her in March 2022, however, now that the judge has rejected their motion to declare her work ‘less than an album’ the original lawsuit can proceed.
