Musicians King Khan and Saba Lou have initiated a copyright infringement lawsuit against Rihanna, claiming the singer used one of their songs, ‘Good Habits (and Bad)’, in a social media post without their permission.
The song in question, released in 2012, was dubbed over a video used in an Instagram post, promoting accessories from her brand Fenty Beauty, founded in 2017, which has since been viewed over 3.4 million times. King and Lou claim that Rihanna’s team had likely taken it straight from a streaming platform and consequently used it without seeking their legal permission or blessing.
According to court documents, the father and daughter duo are seeking a settlement of an unspecified amount of damages and additionally requested both Rihanna and Fenty Beauty cease use of the song and remove it from the Instagram post in question.
This follows accusations from designer Selah Marley at the beginning of 2020, alleging that Rihanna copied some of her ideas and used them in her Autumn 2019 show for Savage x Fenty, the global star’s lingerie brand, without providing the original artist with any credit nor seeking permission. Marley since deleted the post.
Rihanna is yet to respond to the new accusations.
