In a surprising move, rapper and owner of Bad Boys Entertainment label Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has returned publishing rights to artists signed to his label.
Founded in 1993, Bad Boys Entertainment, which was once worth over $100 million, has agreements in place with the likes of Faith Evans, Mase, Shyne and Carl Thomas – all of which are likely to regain their rights following the generous move by Mr Combs.
It is alleged that Diddy will go without significant profits as a result of his decision to return the publishing rights to the artists, which are rumored to worth in excess of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Whilst the reason for Diddy’s bold move has not been disclosed, it certainly is decision that will enable artists signed under Bad Boys Entertainment to have more power over their creative works.
