Live Nation and its subsidiary continue to fight with congressional scrutiny and angry Swifties following the disastrous roll out with Taylor Swift’s recent tour The Era’s Tour. Now, the House of Representatives are calling for Live Nation to have a staff briefing with the company.
Swifties became outraged at the start of December and filed a lawsuit over Ticketmaster’s business practise while the Senate stated that there is a lack of competition in the ticketing industry. Furthermore, the Justice Department launched an anti-trust investigation into Live Nation and Ticketmaster.
The fiasco happened after Taylor Swift’s The Era’s Tour sold out completely during its presale, with fans being stuck in hour long queues and tickets being resold for up to $30,000 for some seats. Fans were left devastated after not being able to secure tickets, even with pre-sale codes. Taylor Swift took to Instagram to shift the blame onto Ticketmaster.
Ticketmaster and Live Nation have not responded to the lawsuits at the time of writing this.
