Travis Scott has been accused of violating a gag order over
continuing Astro World lawsuits. The rapper made an announcement
about his $5 million project HEAL initiative, which includes funding to
address safety precautions and large-scale events.
Attorneys for some of those killed and injured at Scott’s event have
accused his announcement of attempting to influence possible jurors
and rebuild his reputation ahead of a potential trial.
The gag order forbids Scott from publicly disclosing information
regarding the trial. However, Scott’s attorneys have argued that any efforts to prevent
him from speaking about his initiative would be a violation of his
constitutional right of free expression and that charitable efforts
have been a “constant in his life.”
The court hearings began at the beginning of March 2022 regarding
the Astro World Festival tragedy which saw 300 people injured and
10 people die in November 2021.
400 lawsuits have been consolidated into one, with dozens of law
firms representing concert attendees and some representing families
of the deceased and injured.
The case is still ongoing.
